CI gearing up to welcome delegates to World Indigenous Tourism Summit

Whatungarongaro te tangata, toitu te whenua.
As people disappear from sight, the land remains.

The CI team is preparing to welcome more than 300 delegates from around the world to the Bay of Islands this Sunday for the World Indigenous Tourism Summit, hosted by New Zealand Māori Tourism and the World Indigenous Tourism Alliance (WINTA).

The carefully curated and truly international programme - including keynote sessions, panel discussions and facilitated workshops – will bring together an audience of indigenous tourism operators and world leaders to discuss advances and challenges in indigenous tourism. Keynote speakers include Norbu Tenzing (Nepal), Heather Rae (United States of America) and Sammy Wilson (Australia), as well as a number of key New Zealand figures from the sector.

It’s going to be an action-packed week, from the opening pōwhiri and hangi at the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds to the Summit dinner featuring Samoan, Tongan and Maori soul sister Bella Kalolo, as well as the morning fitness and yoga sessions to kickstart the days!

Don't forget to follow all the action online - #kiaoraWITS or check out the blog

If you’re coming along – we can’t wait to see you there!
